Ontario Student Committee
Our mandate:
To facilitate the inclusion and retained participation of students in CES and CES-Ontario activities, which foster relationships lending themselves to the ability of students to publish and present their evaluation related research, strengthen their own evaluation knowledge and practices, and network with fellow students, in addition to potential colleagues and employers.
Principles of Operation:
The committee will work in a participatory way with the Board and other relevant committees and the results of its work will be transparent and responsive to the student membership.
Specific activities designed to fulfill this mandate include:
- Communicate with students
- Student newsletter or articles on Students’ Corner
- Develop and maintain an Ontario Evaluation Contacts List (professors engaged in evaluation)
- Recruit new student members:
- Poster board highlighting CES and committee activities at conferences
- Announcements to new students entering evaluation related programs
- Facilitate and encourage student involvement in educational opportunities:
- Ensure that financial support or waivers exist for student participation in CES-Ontario activities.
- Develop student-focused sessions at CES-Ontario conferences.
- Provide a voice for students
- Initiate feedback mechanism for students
- Ensure student concerns are considered in the development and conduct of CES-Ontario activities
- Bring student concerns to the CES-Ontario Board
- Assist students to secure employment
- Facilitate linkages between evaluation mentors and students
- Develop and maintain potential employer list of organizations and departments in Ontario
