Student Session at Ontario Conference Well Received

The CES-Ontario 25th Anniversary Annual Conference was held on September 18th in Toronto. The focus of the conference was on “Building a Case for Evaluation in the Next 25 Years”. The conference was an enjoyable, educational, and thought-provoking experience, leading us to consider the future of evaluation and our place and role in it.

For the first time, the student committee organized a thematic lunch session on entering the field of evaluation. Presentations were made by three speakers, Dr. Janos Botschner, Alison McAndrew, and Corinne Palmer, who provided three very different perspectives on the field of evaluation. This forum provided students and new evaluators with a very unique opportunity to get the “inside scoop” on what it takes to become and be an evaluator. Panellists discussed questions students should think about when considering a job in evaluation, the wide variety of skills and knowledge that a successful evaluator might need, and the various roles of evaluators. Thanks to the speakers for sharing their unique experiences and perspectives with us! For those who were not able to attend, the presentations are available below.

We hope to include student focused sessions at future CES-Ontario conferences and we would love to hear your ideas for future events or presentations! Please contact us at students@evaluationontario.ca with your ideas.
